Rebecca Louise Tesh

May 20, 1941 — April 20, 2024

Rebecca Louise Brooks Tesh, a cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on May 20, 1941, in Granville County to her late parents, James Richard Brooks and Sarah Cottrell Peed Brooks, Becky's life journey was marked by dedication, service, and unwavering faith.

Growing up amidst the serene countryside, Becky attended Berea High School, graduating in 1959. It was in the embrace of this rural upbringing that she cultivated values of diligence, kindness, and a deep-rooted sense of community. In 1965, she found love in Robert Lewis Tesh, and together they embarked on a journey of love and commitment that spanned 48 years until his passing.

Becky's professional journey was defined by her tenure at Duke University and Duke Medical Center, where she devoted 52 years of her life. Her dedication and hard work left an indelible mark, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Her spiritual journey led her to Warrens Grove Methodist Church in 1970, where she found solace, purpose, and a community that became her extended family. For 48 years, Becky rarely missed a Sunday service, serving in various capacities and embodying the principles of faith and compassion.

Becky's legacy extends beyond her professional and spiritual realms. She leaves behind a loving family, including her siblings Nancy Brooks Narron and Willie Lee Brooks, along with their spouses, as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom she cherished deeply.

In the hearts of those who knew her, Becky's absence will be deeply felt. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will endure through generations.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Robert, and her brother Richard Brooks. While her physical presence may have departed, her spirit will continue to live on in the memories and hearts of those she touched.
