Al William Glasscock

Oxford, NC Al Glasscock,78, passed away on July 28, 2018 after a courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Born to the late Alfred and Ruth Glasscock on March 1, 1940 in Granville County and raised by his grandparents, the late Richard and Minee Glasscock. Al was married to Gladys Elliott Glasscock for 55 years. Al graduated from Oak Hill High School and Fullers Business School.?? He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church. Al was owner and operator of Glasscock Auto Service, True Value Hardware, Glasscock Real Estate Investments and was a real estate broker. Al and Gladys had many memorable times at their condo at Palmwood Villa in North Myrtle Beach with family and friends. They always enjoyed sharing special time with friends there. Al enjoyed traveling, biking, water skiing, snow skiing, auto racing and cruising on his 1957 Chevy. Al is survived by his wife, Gladys; his three children: Kendall Glasscock (Ileana), Tonya Hubbell, and Sandra Oakley (Gene); grandson, Johnathan Oakley and granddaughter, MacKenee Oakley and granddog, Pierre. He is also survived by his sisters; Dolly Riley, Julia Braxton, Gloria Daniel, and Florence Blackwell; his brother, Richard Glasscock; ??his mother-in law, Bertha Elliott; and ??along with many loving family and friends. Al was predeceased by his sisters, Mildred Yarborough and Marie Lankford and the aunts that he grew up with, Emma, Janie, and Thelma Glasscock. Visitation for Al Glasscock will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Gentry-neell & Vaughan with a service to follow in the Chapel at Gentry-neell and Vaughan officiated by Rev. Chris Aho.?? Burial will occur at Virgilina Cemetery in Virgilina, VA directly after the service and officiated by Rev. Norman Talley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Granville County Red Cross, or the St. Jude Foundation for Leukemia; or the ACIM of Oxford, NC. The Glasscock family is proudly being served by Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College St., Oxford, NC, 27565.
