Bertie L. Skeeter Shields, Jr.

Bertie L. "Skeeter" Shields, Jr., 78, died Sunday, July 6, 2014. Borneecember 28, 1936 to the late Bertie L. and Rosalind Copley Shields in Durham. Skeeter was a US Army veteran and worked for the City of Durham Water and Sewage Department as a surveyor. Surviving are; his wife, of 54 years, Karen D. Klement Shields of Durham; a daughter, Jody Shields Hedrick and husband, Ray of Rougemount; two grandsons, Wyatt and Coltineedrick. The family will be present 6-8 PM Wednesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St., Durham. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday at The Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham. Rev. Forest Gales will officiate.
