Bobbie Spence Teer

Bobbie Marie Spence Teer, daughter of the late Mack Carlie & Conee Fogleman Spence, was born oneebruary 1, 1927, in Durham. She died Tuesday morning, February 19, 2014, at Rose Manor, following several years of declining health. During that time she resided at Carolina House of Durham, where she made many good friends. Everywhere she lived, worked, or visited, she made life-long friends. Her laughter was infectious. Bobbie retired from Sperry Rand Corp. and later worked at the Duke Athletic Center and voluneered with the Americaneed Cross. She was preceded ineeath by her beloved husband, William Bill E. Teer and his daughter, Janet Teer, a child with special needs who loved Bobbie and her family. Both of Bobbie's children, James Ferrell, Jr., and Janee Ferrell Newcomb preceded her ineeath. She was also preceded ineeath by her brother, Wesley Monee Spence, and sister, Marion Maxine Spence. Survivors include two sisters Virginia Spence Meachum and Judith Spence Ford Eddie of Durham and their families. Other survivors include her cherished grandchildren Lisa Hinson Mike of Timberlake who was her caregiver this past year, Conee Ferrell of Apex, and Joshua Ferrell Shannon of Wendell and her great grandchildren Morgan Yount, Tyler Hinson, and Kane, Parker, and Colt Ferrell of Wendell. Bobbie had many devoted medical caregivers that were special to her; two who gave her long-term support were Dr. Tracey Black and Dr. Anita Cook, Duke Physicians. Memorial services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at St. Paul Uneed Methodist Church, 2700 Roxboro St, Durham. Reverend Mark D. Stephens will preside. Her ashes will be buried next to her son in Maplewood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Bobbie requested that donations be made to St. Paul or to the Urban Ministries, PO Box 249, Durham, NC 27702.
