Carl Edwin Nuckols

Carl Edwin Nuckols died peacefully in his Durham home Saturday evening, May 9, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He recently celebrated his 41st birthday. Carl was born in Danville, VA on April 30, 1968 to Jean V. Reasor Nuckols and the late William B. Nuckols, Jr. Carl and his family were active members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed working with the youth group starting in Danville, VA in 1994 until they moved to Durham in 1998. Carl recently joined the youth group in Durham working with the 6th graders. Through his active relationship with the church he developed a strong relationship with the community and with God. Carl truly lived "One Day at a Time". He felt that all things had a place in time. As a caring, patient, and compassionee manee knew when to be serious and when it was time to laugh. Some of you may remember Carl blurting out an animal noise to let you know that everything was going to be alright. He was a soft spoken maneelieving that actions speak louder than words. Carl is survived by his loving and devoted wife of seveneeneears, Sherri Nuckols of Durham; his children, Trevor and Lauren Nuckols, also of Durham; his mother, Jean Nuckols; his grandmother, Hope Reasor; his brother, William B. Nuckols III and wife, Linette; his sister, Katherine Newcomb and husband, Billy; and his three nephews: William B. Nuckols IV, James Nuckols of Chatham, VA, and Michael Nuckols of Utah. Carl was preceded ineeath by his father, William B. Nuckols, Jr. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00am Friday, May 15, 2009 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Dan McLellan, OFM, presiding. Carl will be buried in Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery in Chatham, VA later that day at 2:30 PM. Friends may visit Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00pm at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham. The rosary will be recited at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carl's memory may be made to: NC 529 College Plan, Rho, Inc. c/o C.
