OXFORD: Chaneer T. Currin, Sr., age 84, a resident of Oxford died Sunday April 3, 2011 at Granville Medical Center. He was a native of Granville Co. and was the son of the late John David and Claudia Kinton Currin. Chaneer was a lifetime member of Hester Baptist Church and Trustee, a retired farmer, a graduate of Oak Hill High School Class of 1944 and worked ineeal estate. Mr. Currineerved on the ASCS committee for 15 years was a member of the Oxford Planning and Zoning Board for 20 years, was a member of the Granville Co. Farm Bureau for 20 years serving the past 10 years as Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Currin also voluneered his services at Granville House in Oxford. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday April 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM ineester Baptist Church by Dr. Lavelle Waters, Dr. Randy Bridges and Dave Currin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Mae Love Currin; son, Chaneer T. Chanee Currin, Jr. and wife Lynn McFarland Currin of Oxford; daughter, Sylvia Currin Holloman and husband Ted Holloman of Oxford; grandson Blake Edward Currin of Oxford, step-grandsons Scott Holloman of Raleigh and Grey Holloman and wife Teresa of Bahama and step-great grandson Logan Holloman. He was preceded ineeath by sisters, Selma Lee Currineella Mae Knott, Jewell Williams, Helen Elliott, Jo Bea Staneeld, Lector Jones, Candace Slaughter, Marvell Hilton and a brother Johnee Lou Currin. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Danny Williams, Ronee Burnette, Henry Loyd, Madison Currin, Gerald Bennett, Crawford Knott and Bruce Wainwright. Honorary pallbearers are Leonard Pruitt, Oliver Cash, A.D.Blackwell, Dale Bullock, Joe Elliott and David Brooks. The family will receive friends Monday April 4, 2011 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM in the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
