Charles Edward Averette

February 13, 1953 — December 30, 2023

Charles Edward Averette, age 70, of Butner, North Carolina, died on December 30, 2023. Born in Oxford, NC, Charles was the son of the late Dewey Young (DY) Averette, Jr and Mildred Gray Sims Averette.


Charles was a hardworking man and a good carpenter. He would do anything for anyone, especially for his family. Once you met him, you couldn’t help but like and love him.


Charles is survived by his wife, Emma Blevins, together in love and heart for 40 years. He is survived by his beautiful daughters, Christy and Michelle Averette of Stem, NC, his precious granddaughter, DJ Yates, Stem, NC. He is also survived by his siblings, Sylvia Martin of Lumberton, Faye Averette of Butner, Nancy Averette of Butner, and Amy Wilder (Scott) of Stem and he will be deeply missed by his large loving extended family and friends too numerous to name.


Charles was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Dewey (DY) Averette, III.


A visitation will be held to celebrate Charles life on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his honor be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
