RALEIGH-Deborah Anne Chelette, 64, of Raleigh, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 10, 2013, in Durham. Debbie was borneebruary 19, 1948 in Monee, LA. She graduated from Neville High School and attended Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. She called North Carolina home for thirty-five years. Debbie graduated Summa Cum Laude from NCCU in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration. She was a Certified Public Accountant, and worked as the Senior Business Services Maneer with the Durham Police Department, having been there since 2002. She was an articulate and tireless worker who led aneencouraged others, and she possessed a high level of integrity in all areas of her work. Debbie thoroughly enjoyed spending time ineer flower gardens, bird watching, and traveling with her family. She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Jenneer Maness, and husband, Darren, of Raleigh; Lauren Gordon of Orlando, Fl; sister and best friend, Carol Wroten of Houston, TX; and four granddaughters, Natalie, Caroline, Sarah, and Kate. She is also survived by her niece, Ashley Naylor and husband, Doug Grace, Isabelle, Isaiah of Friendswood, Texas; nephew, Evans Wroten, and wife, Melissa, of Winston- Salem, NC. Her lovineextended family also includes her coworkers at the Durham Police Department, who she thought the world of. Debbie was preceded ineeath by her parents Betty Evans and Carl Slakter, brothers, Danny and Alan Slakter. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Crossroads Fellowship Church, 2721 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. The Durham Police Department Honor Guard and Motor Unit will be assisting the family with the services. Friends may visit from 5:00-7:00pm Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
