Doris Printz McFarland, wife of the late Edward Holman McFarland Jr. died June 23, 2015 at Granville Medical Center.?? She was 89. She was born on July 22, 1926 in Augusta County, Virginia to Roy and Lelia Printz. She was a graduate of Moneeat College in Moneeat, North Carolina and Presbyterian School of Education in Richmond, Virginia in 1948. She became the Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church ineenderson, North Carolina for several years, and then moved to Oxford, North Carolina in 1954 and was very active in the Oxford Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School for many years, was President of the Presbyterian Women, served 14 terms as District Chair of the Presbyterian Women for Granville and Orange Presbytery, and received an honorary Life Membership for Presbyterian Women for Oxford Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughters, Dianna H. McFarland (John Watters), Raleigh, NC; Lynn M. Currin (Chanee Currin), Oxford, NC; two grandchildren, Sarah D. McLamb (Jeff McLamb), Morrisville, NC; Blake Currin (Jade Currin), Oxford, NC; and one great-grand child, Nathan McLamb. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26,2015 at Oxford Presbyterian Church at 11:00a.m by Rev. Alan Koenee?? with internment at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Gentry-neell and Vaughn Funeral Home from 7:00p.m to 8:30p.m. Flowers are accepted or donations to the Alzheimer???s Association, 742 North Main St. Fuquay-Varina, 27526.
