HILLSBOROUGH - Dr. Rodolfo Marquinez Saludo, also known as ???Dr. Rudy??? or ???Doc???, 83, Durham, North Carolina, passed away, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center. Dr. Rudy was born July 6, 1934 in Lipa City, Philippines to the late Mariquita and Leon Saludo. He graduated from Santo Tomas Uneersity in the Philippines and completed his medical residency at St. John???s Hospital, Queens, NY. Dr. Rudy decided to leave the cold weather behind and open his private practice in warm, sunny Ft. Myers, Florida. He was passionee about the health and wellbeing of his patients and was always ???on-call??? for those ineeed. Eventually, Dr. Rudy worked for Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers before retiring in 2012. Dr. Rudy???s kineess and caring nature extended to the animals on his hobby farm, where he raised goats, pigs, cattle and more. As an avid outdoorsmanee enjoyed hunting, fishing, firearms, and shared his love and knowledge with his children and grandchildren. Dr. Rudy was always ready to share stories, memories, laughter, and was an excellent listener and friend to many. He loved speed and adventure - from inneently stealing and crashing a police motorcycle as a youth in the Philippines, to racing his Lotus alongside the JFK runways, to his one man hunting trips for wild hogs. Dr. Rudy was a loving brother, father and grandfather. Dr. Rudy is survived by: son, Raniel Saludo, his spouse Kellie and their two sons Matthew and Wesley of Cary, NC; daughter, Annichele Saludo, her spouse, Deborah K. Stanton of Hillsborough, NC; son Rienne Saludo, his girlfriend, Amy L. Mosher, and his daughter Aya of Tallahassee, FL; daughter Anneerie Saludo - Brooklyn, NY; Siblings; Ernie, Magi, Soly, Aurora, Tess, Jun, Marilu and several nieces, nephews. He was preceded ineeath by his brother, Abe Saludo In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calusa Waterkeeper or Doctors Without Borders. A celebration of life service was held at 1pm, Saturday, January 6 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center. Rev. Tammerie Day officiated. The Saludo family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
