Edward John Schrand

Edward John Schrand, 57, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at his home in Durham, NC surrounded by family and friends. He was very dedicated to his wife and friends who loved him and miss him dearly. Born in Covington KY, he was the son of the late Edward John and Beatrice Reigler Schrand. After receiving his BS in Engineering from Franklin Uneersity, he attained a two year Civil Engineering Degree from Ohio College of Applied Science. From 1967 until 2002, Edward worked in the public safety sector. For the last year and a half, he worked with the NC Department of Transportationeedward was a member of the American Society for Quality and served in the Air National Guard. Mr. Schrand was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He lived in the area for the last 19 years and was an avid golfer. Surviving are his devoted wife Gloria Ward Schrand; his mother-in-law Gatha Ward of West Liberty, OH; father-in-law, John Ward of Rushsylvania, OH; brother, William Schrand and wife Jan of Florence, KY; and nephew, Chris Schrand of Indianapolis, IN. A Funeral Mass will be offered 11 AM Tuesday from St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Fr. John Durbin, S.T.L. officiating. The family will receive friends in the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwards memory may be made to the Brain Tumor Center at Duke, Duke Uneersity Medical Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710.
