OXFORD: Elizabeth White Winston, age 75, of 2074 James Winston Road, Oxford, died peacefully surrounded by her family oneednesday, March 4, 2015 at Duke Medical Center. A native of Murfreesboro, she was the daughter of the late John Davis and Hazel Edwards White.?? Elizabeth was a graduate of Peace College, East Carolina Uneersity and the Uneersity of New York, receiving a Master???s Degree. Elizabeth showed 5-gaited horses in the Tide Water Horse Show Circuit. She taught in the Granville County Schools for approximately 40 years.?? She was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church where she previously served as organist and pianist.?? Elizabeth was the first Deaconess of Grassy Creek Baptist Church, she organeed the 250th anneersary of the church, and served as organist at Bullock Baptist Church for a number of years.?? She was a homemaker, she loved cooking, aneentertaining family and friends. ??She enjoyed living oneer farm, doing yard work and traveling. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Grassy Creek Baptist Church by Reverend Woodrow Freeze.?? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.?? The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 ??? 8:30 pm at the funeral home and at other times at the home. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Thomas W. Winston and her son, John Thomas Winston of Durham; grandchildren, Margaret Grace Winston of ECU, William Davis Winston of Campbell Uneersity.?? Elizabeth is preceded ineeath by a daughter-in-law Sara Gaddy Winston. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grassy Creek Baptist Church building fund, 9142 Grassy Creek Road, Bullock, NC?? 27507.
