Ellen Edith Franczak

DURHAM-Ellen Edith Franczak, 88, of Durham passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Duke Uneersity Hospital. She was born in Easton, PA to the late Raymond Orand Seiple and Yvonne Smith Seiple. After raising her three children until school age, she returned to the work force as an Administrative Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture:APHIS. While working, she achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Maneement in 1980. She was inducted in the National Honor Society Alpha Sigma Lambda in 1976. Ellen was a loving and supportive Mother. She enjoyed hosting family and holiday celebrations. Ellen is survived by her daughters, Nancy E. Harris and her husband Donald of Hillsborough; Kathleen L. Franczak of Durham; her son, Mark S. Franczak, M.D. of Chapel Hill; and five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Ellen was preceded ineeath by her husband, Stanley J. Franczak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11:30 am on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Christopher VanHaight OFM officiating. A reception will follow. Burial be on June 13, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Gate of Heaveneemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Duke Eye Center Development, Dr. Alan Carlson, 710 West Main Street, Suite 200, Durham, NC. 27701, Attention: Kelly Rezill. The Franczak family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham.
