George Conyer Parsons March 6, 1940 - September 5, 2014 George Parsons died September 5, 2014 at UNC Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Nasheville, Tennessee to Gordon and Boots Parsons who preceded him ineeath. George was educated in Nasheville and graduated from Vanderbilt Uneersity with a degree ineechanical engineering. George and Alice McIlvaine were married on March 5, 1966 in High Point, NC after a short courtship. George was then drafted into the U.S. Army, went to Officer Candidate School and would eventually be stationed ineermany, working as a supply officer. After honorably serving for three years, George and Alice returned to the U.S. and had their daughter Rachel born July 6, 1969. George's career led the family to live in many states. He worked for Cincinnati Milicron, Bear Manning, NTneearing, Branson Ultrasonics and Crest Ultrasonics. While in California, he established his own business from 1987-2007, to provide high precision cleaning systems. He sold the business to the employees and moved to Fearrington in 2007, where George worked as the regional southern sales maneer for Crest. After retiring in 2012, he became involved ineeveral clubs and organizations in the area, such as the Kaighn Group, Fearrington Boys Club and the Shared Learning Association of Chapel Hill. In addition to his parents, George was preceded ineeath by his sister, Gloria Roberts; and his brother, Mack Gordon Parsons. He is survived by his wife, Alice M. Parsons; his daughter, Rachel Klemek; four grandchildren, Peter, Sage, Levi and Deirdre, who all live in California; his aunt, Clara Bedingfield; his brother-in-law, John Roberts; his sister-in-law, Betty Parsons; along with neerous nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, September 14, at Christ Uneed Methodist Church in Southern Village- 800 Market St., Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
