DURHAM John Charles Herrman, 65, of Durham died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at his residence. A native of Plaineeld, NJ, he was the son of the late William L. Herrman aneeleanor Smith Herrman. Johneerved in the U.S. Air Force for four years, including a three year tour ineermany, after which he attended X-Ray School at Muhlenburg Hospital and then continued his education at the Duke Uneersity Medical Center Nuclear Medicine Program. He was recently retired from Duke Uneersity Medical Center, where he spent his career as a radiopharmacy technologist for 35 years. John was a member of the Durham Pistol & Rifle Club. He also enjoyed voluneering at the Carrboro Arts Center. In his signature short-sleeved plaid shirt, Johneerrman was known for his charismatic, larger-than-life personality and the knack for telling a good joke. He will be remembered as always being helpful to others, proud of his family, a friend to everyone he met. John is survived by his wife Linda Herrman; his daughters, Chrissy Lux and husband, Jeffrey of Holly Springs and Melissa Anneerrman of Durham; and his sisters, Nancy Applegate of Bay Head, NJ and Karen Hill of Middlesex, NJ. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, with the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Friends may visit from 1:00 1:45 pm. Saturday in the funeral home.
