MEBANE - Linda ???Gayle??? Amshay, 61, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 12th, 2019.?? Gayle was born on July 7th, 1957 in Durham, NC.??She attended UNC-G graduating with a BS in Education which she utilized throughout her life.?? Teaching was not only her occupation but Gayle???s passion.?? She loved her students and they loved her!?? She had many fulfilling years teaching at Grey Stone Preschool & Kindergarten. She is survived by her husband, Don of 35 years; daughter, Lara; mother, Mildred Doby; brother, Ronee Doby and sister, Jackie Brady (Barry).?? Nieces Whitney Johnson (Matt) with Carter & Mackenee and Lindsay Miller (Justin) with Kylie & Ava. Family was extremely important ineer life where for many years she lived beside her parents with Don and Lara.?? Whether it was mowing their grass, raking pine straw or just walking over for a visit, Gayle was always there.?? She enjoyed the family beach weeks and we mean ???whole family??? beach weeks.?? As you may suspect there were moments we often wanted to forget but Gayle???s journaling or later Facebook postings prevented that from happening.?? It was fun in the later years for the family to gather together and listen to Gayle read from her journal.?? We truly had many laughs together Gayle was devoted to anything she did!?? One of her top priorities was being a devoted wife and mother.?? As a mother, she assisted, attended and supported Lara ineer many activities like chorus, sports and their nightly walks.?? She enjoyed organizing and hosting Fourth of July cook-outs where she displayed her patriotism in many forms and ways as she decorated everything in sight, red, white & blue.?? Oh don???t forget the pledge also. ??Gayle enjoyed planting and working with flowers ineer yard as well as her parents yard. ??She valued the many family trips which included, Hawaii, Outer Banks, California and her favorite place of all ??? Washington DC. Gayle displayed her commitment to her Savior with her walk and service for Him.?? This incorporated fulfilling many roles with the church at Northgate Chapel.?? These roles included piano playing, Sunday School, Awana, choir and practical hospitality.?? She was a faithful servant for many years. Now Gayle is present with the Lord, the one she loved and adored. Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Funeral services will be held at Northgate Chapel, 3207 Duke Homestead Road, Durham, NC 27705, on Friday, March 15th, 2019 at 2:00 PM with a visitation from 12:45 PM - 1:45 PM. The Amshay family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Top Youth Camp at 1460 Mackay Lane, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
