Marilyn Ann Tsipis Naughton, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 23, 2012. She was borneebruary 25, 1936 in Cleveland, OH to the late Edward Raymond and Violet Huston Naughton. Marilyn excelled as a basketball player, cheerleader, band member and was the valedictorian of her class at Kirtland High School. She graduated from Cleveland City Hospital School of Nursing with honors as a Registered Nurse. Marilyn was a devoted member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Her passions for quilting, cross-stitching, knitting and cooking provided joy to all. Throughout her life, Marilyn continued her cheerleading career by attending and supporting her children's and grandchildren's sporting and artistic activities and being the world's greatest Nana. She was the ultimate example of unconditional Christian love and had the ineedible ability to make everyone she came in contact with feel special. Her caring spirit and loving manner will be missed by all. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lou E. Tsipis, her children, Constantine Dean Tsipis and wife Teresa of Advance, NC, Jeffrey Tsipis and wife Gayle of Durham, NC, LuAnn Damiris and husband George of Wichita, KS, Lisa Bultman and husband David of Cary, NC, and Jonathan Tsipis and wife Leigh of Washington, D.C., and grandchildren John, Megan, Amanda, Nicholas, Rachel, Kelsey, Ian, Hannah, Sam, Brooke, Brynne, Emily, Joshua, and great-grandchildren Paige and Blair. She is also survived by three brothers James Naughton, Lynn Naughton and Leslie Naughton. A funeral service will be offered 11:00 AM Thursday, July 26, 2012 from the Chapel at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street Durham, NC 27701. Friends may visit Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 6 to 9:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marilyn's Memorial Hall, c/o Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 8306 NC Hwy 751 Durham, NC 27713.
