It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dale Hanes, 73, of Wilmington, North Carolina on neember 2, 2017. By his side in his courageous battle with multiple myeloma, just as in so many of the better of his life's adventures, was his beloved wife, best friend, business partner and confidante, Vicky. Born Richard Dale Hanes on April 16, 1944, ineeeds County, Ontario, Canada, he emigrated with his parents, Ward and Jean, to Orlando, Florida in 1955. A proud Marching Grenadier, Dale earned neerous honors and awards as a talented trumpeter and graduated from Colonial High in 1962. He enlisted in January of 1966 and served his country with honor and distinction in the Uneed States Marines at Camp Lejeune and in Southeast Asia. Following his service in the USMC, Dale returned to civilian life and work. He distinguished himself in sales at Prudential and TubMaster. In the early 1990???s Dale and Vicky founded Allante International and, then, Tuscany Tile with locations in Charlotte, Wilmington, Ocean Isle, and North Myrtle Beach. Dale's charisma, larger-than-life personality, and his strong work ethic provided not only for his family, but also for the families of his employees. Dale was a great dancer and chef. He relished a good hand of poker, a game of craps, golf, tennis, reading (napping), and throwing the ball for his Ginny. He mixed a mean martini and wasn't stingy with the olives. He was predeceased by his parents, Ward and Jean Hanes. He is survived by his wife and partner of 23 years, Vicky Hanes. His children, step-children and grandchildren: Candace and Dave Arnett (Jason, Amanda, Jaimie, Ryleigh, Hannah, Caleb, and Abby), Shannon Hunter (Dustin, Zachary, Melissa, and great-granddaughter-on-the-way, Attie Rey), Jeff and Julie Halter (Emma, Eli, and Katie) and Greg and Dora Halter (Gregory), and by his sweet mother-in-law Betty Cole, and sister-in-law Sandra Rich.
