Robert Roland Spencer

Mr. Robert Rowland Spencer passed away early Wednesday morning, February 5, 2014 at his home in Apex, NC. "Bobby" was borneecember 29, 1956 to the late Charles and Nettie Ruth Spencer, in Lucas County, Ohio. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Pensacola, Florida where Bobby would grow up fishing, hunting, and just enjoying the outdoors ineeneral. At neeteen, he met and fell in love with Mary Ellen Scott. Two years later, the couple would wed. In 1975, the family moved to Houston, Texas where Bobby worked with drywall and sheetrock installation. In the mid 1980's, opportunity knocked again for Bobby and Mary Ellen as they would relocate their two children to Durham, NC. Bobby was a huge Tarheel fan, but was a bigger comedian. His quick and wry wit kept people laughing constantly. He was a very easy going, laid back man who knew how to lighten things up ineense situations. Bobby loved all children, but his main sidekick was his grandson, Christopher, who Bobby treated more like a son. They had special times together fishing, boating and going to ballgames. In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded ineeath by his wife. Mary Ellen passed away in 1999. They were married for 27 years. Surviving members of his family include his son, Sam Spencer of Siler City, NC; his daughter Christie Spencer of Graham, NC; his grandchildren, Christopher Spencer, Brayden Drewery, Michael Pantoja, Ashley Pantoja, Tearany Pantoja, Kaylee Faircloth, Michael Faircloth, Justin Faircloth, Quintin Faircloth and Jordaneenthall; and his step-children, Sam Faircloth, Mike Faircloth, Charlotte Benthall, and Barbara Pantoja. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service-Griffin Chapel, 396 West St. Pittsboro, NC 27312.
