DURHAM-Roberta Ann Sims Addison passed away at 11:43pm on July 3, 2018 at her home. She was a devoted Christian and is now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior and all her loved ones who preceded her ineeath, especially her dear mother who died when Roberta was only 18 years old. In 1959, she married Daniel Stevens Addison. From this union two wonderful sons were born, Gregory ???Blake??? and Christopher ???Todd???. Before marriage Roberta was employed by the B.C. Remedy company. She gave up this job wheneer first son, Blake, was born to become a full-time mother and homemaker for the remainder of her life. Being quite a talented musician (she could play almost any instrument) and blessed with a lovely voice, Roberta used her voice in praising God. She sang ineeveral church choirs, doing solo work as well as singing in a trio for many years. She sang for Hudson Funeral Home for 25 years. Only after her health failed several years ago did she give up this much loved and important ministry. Roberta was born in 1934 to the late Frederick Cole Sims and Mary Magdalene Benton Sims. She is survived by her husband of 59 years as well as her two sons, Blake (Adele) and Todd (Rachel), and three grandchildren whom she adored, Maggie, Beck, and Savanna. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Martin (Cleo) of Timberlake, NC and Margaret S. Hood (Ronee) of Monee, NC, and one brother, Thomas Sims of Cleveland, OH. She was predeceased by her brothers, Norman Sims of Raleigh, NC and Charlie Sims of Palm Beach, FL, and sister, Bonee Suitt (Tommy) of Durham, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel. Following the funeral service, the burial service will take place at the Maplewood Cemetery in Durham. Flowers or a gift of remembrance to a charity of one???s choice would be a lovely tribute to Roberta.
