Sidney Lee Dean, 80, of Pittsboro, NC died Friday, August 29, 2014. He was borneecember 16, 1933 in Granville County, NC to the late Cortez and Florence Dean. Mr. Deaneerved honorably in the??U.S. Army and retired from the??N.C. Forestry Service after nearly 38 years of service. Sidney is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Dixoneean of Pittsboro, NC; his son, James Lee Dean and his wife Kathy of Moncure, NC; a sister, Betty Dean McLamb and her husband Nelson of Cary, NC; two grandchildren, Leslee Dean and her significant other Kevin of Apex, NC and Trent and his wife Lisa Cooper of Bynum, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Wilkins and Jayden Cooper. A visitation will be held 6-8 pm Monday, September 1, 2014 at Hall Wynne Griffin Chapel, Pittsboro, NC. The funeral service will be 2 pm on Tuesday, September 2,??at Chatham Uneed Methodist Church, Pittsboro, ??with burial following in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions canee made to Chatham Uneed Methodist Church/ Sound System Fund, 1826 Chatham Church Rd, Moncure, NC 27559.
