Thomas Eugene Farmer

Thomas Eugene Farmer died peacefully at his home in Pittsboro, NC on January 14th, 2015. Thomas was born in Dayton, OH on March 5, 1937. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1955, where he played football, tennis, basketball and track. That???s where he met Joyce Elaine Harter. They were married oneecember 21, 1958. He went on to graduate from Wittenberg Uneersity in 1960, with a BA in Physics. He had a distinguished corporate career, becoming an expert in the telecommunications industry, working for companies including Ohio Bell, AT&T, Rockwell International and Sprint. He retired in 1996 aneenjoyed many years in Punta Gorda, FL boating the Gulf Coast. He is preceded ineeath by his parents, John and Kathleen Farmer. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Elaine Farmer of Pittsboro; son, Thomas David Farmer and his wife Maureen of Pittsboro, daughters, Kimberly Elaine Fishman of Addison, TX and Jenneer Lynn Barnett and her husband Phil of Wilmington, NC, grandchildren Emily Elaine Klineelter of Wilmington, NC, Chelsea Rebecca Fishman of Grapevine, TX, Hannah Marie Barnett and Thomas Dean Barnett, both of Wilmington, NC, great-grandchildren Lyric Fisher Klineelter and Jude Ledgin Klineelter; brother, David Lowell Farmer of Union Hall, VA, sister, Nancy Ann Wille of Granville, OH and brother-in-law Don Martin Harter of Folly Beach, SC. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 24th at Pittsboro Uneed Methodist Church with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations canee made to the Chatham UNC Hospice, 480 Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312. Hall-Wynne Griffin Chapel is serving the Farmer family.
