Thomas Nesbitt Dixon

Mr. Thomas Nesbitt Dixon, 91, of Pittsboro died July 18, 2012 in his home following a period of declining health. A Chatham County native, Mr. Dixon was born October 1, 1920 to Rufus and Nonie Smith Dixon. He was a graduate of Pittsboro High School. Mr. Dixoneerved in the US Navy during World War II. When his military service was ended, Mr. Dixoneegan working as an automobile mechanic for Justice Motor Company. Later, he was self-employed as an automobile mechanic. Mr. Dixon was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Glenda Dixon of Pittsboro, Vivian and Benny Overton of Oxford; a sister, Ellen Clark of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Nathan and Justin Crow; great-granddaughter, Ava Crow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded ineeath by his wife, Mary Lillian Hilliard Dixon who died February 11, 2011; and siblings, Lottie Gilmore, Dewey Dixon and Willabelle Hutchins. The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Nesbitt Dixon will be held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2012 at Pittsboro Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Tripp Harmon will preside. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the Dixoneesidence at any time. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be directed to the Pittsboro Baptist Church General Fund, PO Box 696, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
