DURHAM -Thomas Tom W. Knight passed away Thursday morning, December 1 after a long battle with cancer. He was originally from Durham but has beeneesiding in Franklinton, North Carolina with his caretaker, Ann R. Matti. He was borneecember 14, 1955 and was the son of the late Arthur J. Knight, Jr. and Hattie Lou Lasater Knight and brother of the late Heather A. Knight. Tom is survived by his daughters, Melissa A. Knight of Greensboro; Sherry L. Sliwa of Durham; granddaughter, Brooke A. Harryman of Greensboro; brother, John A. Knight of Durham; Godmother, Mary W. Canada of Durham. Tom was a very caring, loving individual whose smile and mild demeanor immediately woneeople over. He was a very hard worker and strived to do the best at everything he encountered. Tom was a wonderful father and a devoted friend to many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Duke HomeCare and Hospice for helping them make his last few months more comfortable through the kineess and compassion of their staff. The family will receive friends and family at the home Friends may visit Sunday, December 4 from 3:00 5:00 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Durham, and also at the home of Ann R. Matti, 75 Pebble Creek Drive, Franklinton, NC on Saturday December 3, 2011 from 5:00-9:00pm Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5 at 2pm from Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel.
