Thurman Tippett

 Thurman Tippett, age 93, died on January 30, 2022, surrounded by family. He was the son of the late William Archie Tippett and Bessie Hight Tippett.  Thurman was born in Granville County on November 9, 1928. 

Thurman was a lifelong farmer and worked for Mt. Hope Finishing Company for 30 years. He was a lifelong resident of Granville County and the eldest member of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church.   He believed in hard work while valuing family and his Christian faith.

Thurman is survived by his son, David Tippett; his son-in-law, Stanley Daniel; his Granddaughters, Christy Daniel Bunn (Brian), and Dana Daniel Mangum (Kyle) and his Great grandchildren, Meghan, Caelyn, Lila Grace and Lindley Marie Bunn, Daniel and Austin Mangum. He is also survived by many loving extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Smith Tippett; his daughter, Deborah Tippett Daniel and his siblings, Maurice Tippett, Haywood Tippett, Doris Williams, Frances Tippett, James Tippett and Melvin Tippett.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on February 3, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church of Oxford, NC. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel and officiated by Rev. David Richardson.  Burial to follow in the church’s cemetery.
