Vimala Devi Parvata

February 5, 1944 — October 28, 2023

We bid farewell to the heart of our family, Mrs.Vimala Devi Parvata. She was a woman

who possessed immense strength, integrity, grace and compassion among other

innumerable, admirable qualities while ingraining in us the importance of family. With a

great sense of humor and a quick wit, she filled our lives with laughter and joy. She was

creative and curious, a lifelong student who loved going to new places, meeting people,

trying new things, and, of course, sharing any good things she found with everyone.

She also never forgot the smallest gesture of kindness from anyone.

Although she was an intensely private person, she spoke truthfully to each of us from the

heart, sharing the wisdom she garnered from her life. And always encouraged us to do

better for ourselves.

She peacefully transitioned onto the next stage of her spiritual journey, surrounded by

her beloved family at the age of 79 on Saturday, October 28th, 2023.

Born February 5th, 1944 in Thangedupalli, India. She bravely left her place of birth with

the dream of building a better future for her children in 1974, first in Ireland, then in the

U.S., and has been a resident of Durham, NC, for over forty-five years. She is survived

by her husband, C.P.R. Parvata M.D, sister Vasundhra, brothers Sudhakar

Reddy(Sujatha), Raghava Reddy(Kantha), and Bhaskar Reddy(Prabhavathi), daughters

Padmaja M.D, Jyothi (Pravin), son Srinivasula, her three grandchildren Sreepriya,

Pranesh, and Nina, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished.

As a family, we hope to honor her legacy and continue to make her proud as we try to

live up to her exemplary life. She was and will always remain our “#1 hero”.

An intimate, private memorial service will be held for the immediate family on November

3, 2023, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service to honor her.
