Anna Harris Bunce

February 16, 1927 — April 11, 2026

Buford, GA

With profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived, we mark the passing of Anna Harris Bunce, who departed this earthly realm on April 9, 2026, in Buford, Georgia.  Born on February 16, 1927, in Granville County, North Carolina, Anna’s journey through life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and the enduring power of love.

A daughter of Harvey R. Harris and Gertie H. Harris, Anna entered the world with a spirit that would soon prove unbreakable. Educated as a high school graduate, she embarked on a career in various administrative roles - banking, insurance, and later local government. Through her work, she contributed steadfastly to the fabric of her community, embodying a quiet strength and unwavering commitment to public service.

Anna’s personal life was marked by moments of both profound loss and profound love. She endured the sorrowful early loss of her first husband, Atha Willard Brummitt, in 1967, a tragedy that left her to raise their two children, Luanna Brummitt Sullivan and Jeffrey Renn Brummitt, as a single mother. Her dedication to her children was nothing short of heroic, nurturing and guiding them with courage and grace through life’s challenges.

In time, Anna opened her heart anew, finding companionship and a deep, special bond with her second husband, David Bunce. Their shared life was filled with mutual respect, affection, and a partnership that brought solace and joy in her later years.

Anna was preceded in death by her first husband at a very early age, Willard Brummitt, and by her second husband, David Bunce.  She was also preceded in death by all her siblings, except for her dear brother, Douglas Harris (Joyce) of Raleigh.  Survivors are daughter Luanna Brummitt Sullivan of Buford, GA;  son Jeffrey Renn Brummitt of Oxford; and Stepdaughter Terry Bunce Burgin (Bill) of Greensboro, along with four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,

Funeral services to be held on April 22, 2026, at 2PM at Gray Rock Methodist Church. The service will be officiated by Rev. Brandon Hendricks. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 at the church on that date.

Her life story is one of steadfast perseverance, love beyond measure, and a quiet dignity that inspires all who reflect upon her days. Anna Harris Bunce graced the world with her gentle fortitude, and in her passing, we are reminded of the profound impact one life can have upon so many.

May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who hold her dear.
