Beverly Earl Dean, 79 of Oxford passed away February 2, 2026 at his home after an extended period of declining health.

Beverly was born on January 15, 1947 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Hubert William Dean and Fay Blackley Dean. He attended J.F. Webb High School and was a member of Future Farmers of America.

He grew up on the family farm farming tobacco and other crops with his father and loved feeding the geese on the farm with his granddaddy Dean. He was a lifelong member of Knotts Grove Baptist Church.

Beverly enjoyed meeting with friends at McDonald’s for breakfast, friendship and a time to catch up on Oxford news. He loved the sport of deer hunting and enjoyed the time spent with members of Corinth Hunt Club. His passion was being a volunteer fireman of Corinth Fire Department for 59.5 years and served on the Granville County Rescue Squad and was a past member of the Granville County Cattlemen’s Association. He was still an active member of the Corinth Fire Department and Granville County Rescue Squad until his death. He received the Outstanding Young Fireman award presented by the Oxford Jaycees in 1982.

He is survived by his sister Rebecca D. Wilkins (Lawrence), niece Deana W. Doby (Brian), nephew Lowell T. Wilkins (Ashley) three great nephews Cameron S. Doby, Carsten J. Doby, Lawson T. Wilkins and a great niece Lily A. Wilkins and numerous cousins.

A visitation will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026 from 12:00 -2:00 pm at Gentry Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home with service following at 2:00 in the chapel officiated by the Rev. Austin Clark. The family will receive friends at the home of Brian & Deana Doby, 4587 Fielding Knott Rd. Oxford, NC.

Pallbearers: Oscar Dean Jr., Brian Doby, Cameron Doby, Carsten Doby, Gerald Freeman, Randall Jones, Steve Preddy, Lowell Wilkins and junior pallbearer Lawson Wilkins. Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Corinth Fire Department.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Bessie Perry for her excellent care during his illness and the staff of Amedisys Home Health Care.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made honoring his memory to Corinth Fire Department; 3678 Hwy 96, Oxford, NC 27565.
