Bruce Milton Crews, Sr., of Granville County, NC, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 30, 1944, in Vance County, North Carolina, Bruce’s life was defined by unwavering strength, loyalty, and a quiet determination that inspired all who had the privilege to know him.

Bruce was known to many as a tough, courageous, and trustworthy man. His ambition was evident in everything he did, and those close to him admired the steadfast manner in which he faced life's challenges. While he often chose to keep many aspects of his life private, his values were always clear: loyalty to his friends and family was paramount, and he approached life with a generous spirit. Bruce loved gathering with those he cherished, sharing good food, enjoying "shine," and relishing the laughter and camaraderie of friends.

He was a good person at heart—one who did not shy away from the complexities of life. In his earlier years, Bruce explored romance with a sense of adventure, valuing the excitement and lessons from many paths taken. In time, he experienced genuine love and chose commitment, letting deep devotion and mutual growth guide his life alongside his true partner, Mildred Watson.

Bruce's greatest legacy is undeniably his family. He is survived by his son, Bruce Crews, Jr.; his beloved grandaughter, Rachel Crews. his daughter, Debbie Sizemore( Michael); his cherished grandchildren, Michael Dean Sizemore (Rebecca), and Sammy Sizemore; and beloved great-grandsons, Lawson Sizemore and Logan Sizemore. Bruce’s brother, James Thomas Crews, continues the Crews family line. 

Bruce is also fondly remembered and mourned by Mildred Watson and her family,  Louis (Linda) Daniel; Lorrie (Michael) Perkins; Angela Daniel; Scott (Shannon) Daniel; Connie Daniel; and Chrissy (Michael) Gresham, each of whom held a special place in his life.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Norfleet Crews, his mother, Roselyn Harriss Crews, his sister Rosalyn E. Crews, and brothers N.G. Crews, William Hunter Crews, and Bert Crews. Their memories formed the foundation of the family and continued to influence Bruce’s life and the lives of his loved ones.

Those who knew Bruce will long remember his tough exterior that concealed a warm, loyal heart and his ability to inspire others simply by being himself. His devotion to those he loved, his ambitious spirit, and his enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures left an everlasting impression.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Bruce’s honor at Gentry-Newell & Vaughn Funeral Home, located at 503 College St, Oxford, NC 27565, on August 12, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Wayne Clark. Family members, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Bruce are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life lived with integrity and heart.

Bruce Milton Crews, Sr. will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, loyalty, and resilience will reside in the hearts of all who knew him.
