Carl Edward Hann, Sr., age 78, of Oxford, North Carolina, passed away on April 27, 2026. Born on April 23, 1948, in Somerville, New Jersey, Carl was the beloved son of the late Walter Earl Hann, Jr. and Doris Lunden Hann.

Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. Following his service, he pursued a career as a self-employed building contractor until his retirement.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Carl cherished his family deeply. He found great joy in cooking for his grandchildren and nurturing his garden, especially planting flowers. His warmth and kindness extended to both family and friends alike.

Carl was an active member of his community, belonging to the Oxford Baptist Church, Henry F. Granger Masonic Lodge, Amran Temple, Oxford Shriners Club, Knights Templar, and the American Legion Post 90.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ann Wilkinson Hann; their son, Carl Edward Hann, Jr. and his wife Natalia; three grandchildren, Evelyn Kate Hann, Carl Ethan Hann (Valeria), and Robert Watkins Hann; as well as his brothers, Robert Ernest Hann of Somerville, New Jersey, and Walter Earl Hann, III of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ellen Hann Jennings.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gentry-Newell and Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. A service to honor Carl’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Dr. David John Hailey, with burial to take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford.

The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Oxford Baptist Church, American Legion Post 90, or the Granville County Shrine Club in Carl’s memory. Flowers are also welcomed.

The Hann family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the care and kindness shown throughout Carl’s journey.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gentry-Newell and Vaughan Funeral Home, located at 503 College Street, Oxford, North Carolina.
