Dr. Caroline Welz-Voegele

Dr. Caroline M. Welz-Voegele, 45, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Duke Medical Center. Born in Minden, Germany, she was the daughter of Gertrud Aurich-Welz and the late Dr. Alfons Welz. After receiving her Ph.D. from Freiburg Uneersity, Germany, her genetics research brought her to C.N.R.S. Toulouse, France; Emory Uneersity Atlanta and then to Duke Uneersity Medical Center. She was a humble, good friend who was proud to share her knowledge with her students and colleagues. Carolineenjoyed living a simple life - she loved her work and was deeply committed to her family. In both her professional and personal life she was a real role model. She was dying the way she was living
