Elizabeth Ann Lumpkins Callis, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. A woman of deep faith, kindness, and thoughtfulness, Elizabeth Ann’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and community.
She was born on January 20, 1938 to Benjamin Franklin Lumpkins and Hazel Eugene Williams Lumpkins in the Gela community of Granville County, NC. She graduated from Stovall High School and furthered her education at Fullers Business School. After working at Raylass Department Store in Oxford, NC for several years, she then dedicated herself to creating a nurturing home as a homemaker.
Elizabeth Ann's grace and generosity profoundly touched all who knew her. She supported and celebrated her family in all their events and achievements, with camera in hand. She was a cherished alto voice in her church choir, a role that brought her much joy. She was known for her card ministry, where she delighted in sending special, carefully crafted cards to express her love and care to her church family, as well as her extended family and friends. She enjoyed many daily calls with her long time, cherished friends, and Fridays were reserved for visits to the beauty parlor, where she enjoyed moments of self-care and fellowship.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Charlene Callis Keeton, her son-in-law, Eddie Keeton, and her beloved grandchildren, Havanna and Nicholas Keeton. She is also survived by her dear brother, James W. Lumpkins. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Marion Reid Callis.

A funeral service will held at the same location on Tuesday, May 5 at 2:00 PM, with burial at Meadowview Memorial Park, 6165 U.S. 15, Oxford, NC, directly after the service. Friends and family are invited to visit and share memories at the home of Charlene and Eddie Keeton.
