Following her collegiate pursuits, Ellen made the commendable decision to join the Air Force, serving her country with pride.

After her military service, Ellen transitioned into a successful clerical career, working with various government agencies, including the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Her work was characterized by a strong commitment to her duties and a keen attention to detail, reflecting her dependable nature.

Ellen was deeply rooted in her faith, spending many hours reading and studying the Bible. Her passion for music was evident as well; she cherished playing gospel music on the piano and keyboard, sharing her musical talents with those around her and uplifting spirits through song.

Ellen is survived by her loving son, Christopher Ronald Sykes, and her brothers, Randall Currin and Ronald Currin. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Alfred Currin and Sarah Lowery Currin, whose influence shaped her unwavering character.

A graveside service will be held at Amis Chapel Baptist Church in Oxford, North Carolina, at 12:00 PM on May 17, 2025. The family invites all those who knew Ellen to join in celebrating her life and honoring her memory as a devoted mother, sister, and friend.
