Ethel Girvin

Durham-Ethel Girvin, age 75, died at the Duke Hock Pavilion on August 9^th 2022. She was born on October 24^th 1946 to the late Davidson Kennedy Girvin and Ethel Carr Lipscomb Girvin. Ethel was also preceded death by her brother-in- law, Thomas B.F. Raney.

Ethel is survived by her husband J. Douglas Williams and her sister Alice Girvin Raney.   

She was a graduate of ECU. She worked as a teacher, a print maker, and worked at Durham County DSS for 34 years. She was an Artist and an avid gardener. Ethel also volunteered with Person County Meals on Wheels.

Ethel and Doug lived in Timberlake, NC and were married twenty-eight years.   There will be a celebration of her live at a later date. Memorials may be made to your local no kill animal shelter, APS, SPCA or The Classical Station 89.7 FM.
