With profound love and wistful remembrance, we celebrate the life and legacy of Gail Ashworth Warren, who departed this world on August 14, 2026, in her home, held close by her beloved family. Born on March 28, 1947, in Vance County, North Carolina, Gail’s journey was guided by quiet strength, gentle warmth, and a spirit that brightened every life she touched.

From the very beginning, Gail embodied grace and kindness, qualities that would become hallmarks of her days. Her roots were deep, her life forever woven into the fields and communities of North Carolina that shaped her character. Through the seasons of her life, Gail lived with intention, cherishing both the everyday rhythms and extraordinary moments that colored her path.

Gail’s essence was felt not only through her actions, but in the tender space she held for those around her. Her home, so often filled with laughter and comfort, became a sanctuary—a place where family gathered, milestones were marked, and life’s simplest joys were celebrated. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Dave Ashworth and Annie Laura Ashworth; her beloved husband, Mike Warren; and her daughter, Kathy Warren.

Her life was well lived and dearly treasured.

She leaves behind her daughter, Ashley Warren Harrell; son-in-law, Lee Harrell; grandchildren, Bailey Harrell and his wife, Monica Harrell; Paige Hester and her husband, Chris Hester; Laura Grace Tucker; and Riggan Tucker; and her great-grandchildren, Connor Hester, Dawson Harrell, Brayden Harrell, and baby Olivia Ann Hester, who will enter this world in the coming weeks. Surviving her is her sister, Brenda Ashworth Gardziel; niece, Kimmy Gardziel; nephew, David Gardziel; and her lifelong friend, Priscilla Pike. She also leaves behind countless other family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched. Among those closest to her was her dear friend and caretaker, Ms. Shirley Hargrove, and Ms. Wanda Burwell, who stood beside Gail, cared for her, and loved her faithfully until the very end.

Some people come into your life and leave a mark, and then there are people like Gail—people who become a part of who you are. If you knew Gail, you knew she loved to give. Whether it was a thoughtful gift, a helping hand, a home-cooked meal, or simply showing up when someone needed her, she gave freely and without expectation. If she loved you, she made sure you felt it.

Even as time imprinted its changes, Gail’s devotion to her family and friends remained unshaken. To have called her daughter, mother, friend, or confidant was to know unconditional care. Her wisdom lingered in words, her love echoed in the traditions she passed forward, her nurturing spirit forged bonds that endure beyond goodbye.

Her passing leaves a gentle ache, a silence heavy with both sorrow and gratitude for all she gave. Yet, in remembering Gail, sorrow twines with celebration—her legacy sustains, living on in the countless ways she enriched the world.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Gentry-Newell & Vaughn Funeral Home, 503 College St, Oxford, NC, on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. All who were touched by Gail’s life are welcome to join the celebration of her life in the chapel immediately thereafter, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., as loved ones gather to honor her memory and reflect on her remarkable journey.

Though we bid farewell to Gail Ashworth Warren, her story lives on in the hearts she shaped—in the love she freely gave, the warmth she inspired, and the enduring example of quiet dignity she leaves behind. Her life was well lived and dearly treasured. Strong-willed, outspoken, generous, and deeply loyal, she moved through this world in a way that was entirely her own—leaving an imprint that cannot be replicated.
