Hal K. Pittard, Jr., a cherished member of our community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in Wake Forest, North Carolina, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on October 31, 1942, in Oxford, North Carolina, and lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and gentle spirit.

Hal's educational journey led him to Elon College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree that laid a foundation for his successful career. Hal was a proud veteran of the Navy, where he served with honor and commitment. Following his military service, he pursued a career as an airline pilot for Hardee's Corporation, demonstrating not only his passion for aviation but also his unwavering work ethic.

Those who knew Hal often remarked upon his unassuming nature and his ability to convey what he wanted with a peaceful demeanor. His kindness and gentle guidance left a lasting impact on everyone, fortunate enough to cross his path. Hal had a remarkable way of sharing his insights and helping others navigate challenges, always with a reassuring presence.

Hal's legacy continues through his sister, Dale Pittard, who carries forward his values of integrity and compassion. He is also remembered fondly by Diane Rainey and many dearest friends who cherished their time with him. The Hunt family and the Pittard family shared a very tight and special familial bond from fishing and hunting on the farm to many family dinners full of laughter and love. He leaves behind a very extended family from his cousins, Louise Hunt Stanley, George and John Hunt and all their loved ones.

Hal is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Hal K. Pittard; his mother, Louise Smith Pittard; and his beloved sisters, Nancy Carolyn Pittard and Martha Dalby Pittard and dear cousin, Susan Hunt Bailey. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

As we reflect on Hal K. Pittard, Jr.'s life, we celebrate a man who exemplified the best of humanity. His calm demeanor, wisdom, and profound love for his family and friends will be missed deeply, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched throughout his life. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm at his resting place in Elmwood Cemetery, Oxford, NC 27565.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made in Hal's owner to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Cancer Association would be greatly appreciated.
