Harry Thomas Jones, a beloved figure in his community and family, passed away on December 15, 2025, in Oxford, North Carolina, at the age of 81. Born in Oxford on June 1, 1944, to Ernest Brummitt Jones and Ruby Kearney Jones, he spent his life rooted in the town he loved, creating memories with family and friends.
Harry had a fulfilling career as a Supply Manager at Burlington Industries until its closure in 2000. His dedication to his work was matched only by his passion for life beyond the job. Later in life, he obtained his auctioneering license and ran a small business called Harry's Trash and Treasures, where he indulged his passion for buying and selling antiques and collectibles. Every Saturday morning he set out early searching for local yard sales, engaging in friendly but serious negotiations to get the best prices for sought-after items. On Sundays, you would find him at church. He was a long-standing member of Delrayno Baptist Church..
Family was at the heart of Harry’s life. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Harry had a special bond with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often found delighting them by filling their piggy banks with pocket change during visits. He thrived in the company of his family, sharing laughter and stories, particularly his time deer hunting with his son, Rohn, all of the Williams gang, and the members of the Kinton Fork Hunt Club. He also had a passion for dancing and loved attending the local dances on Friday and Saturday nights.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Melanie Jones Williams (Gary) of Oxford; his sons, Rohn P. Jones (Amy Harris) of Oxford and Chad T. Jones (James Brown) of Fuquay Varina. He cherished his grandsons, Matthew H. Jones of Chapel Hill, Gray Williams (Caroline), Landon Williams (Lottie), and Austin Williams (Courtney) all of Oxford. His heart was also full of love for his great-grandchildren, Stetson Williams, Layton Williams, Harrison Williams and Kannon Williams; He is also survived by a beloved sister, Maude McGhee of Greenville, SC and a nephew, Todd McGhee.
Harry's life was a lasting testament to love, laughter and sharing good times. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
