James Duke Bradsher, Jr

Jan 2, 1963 — Aug 8, 2026

Newport, NC

James Duke Bradsher Jr. affectionately known as “Brad” of Newport, North Carolina passed away on August 8, 2026, in Durham, North Carolina surrounded by his family.

Brad was originally from Granville County and graduated from J.F. Webb High School. In his early years, Brad proudly served time in the United States Army. After his military service, he discovered his love for trucking that he still had at the time of his passing. Brad had a deep love for the beach and also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Daisy.

Brad married the love of his life on June 13, 1987, and they spent the next 38 years by each other’s side. Through life’s greatest joys and most difficult moments they remained each other’s person. Brad passed away on what would have been Marcy’s first birthday in Heaven-a bittersweet reminder of their enduring love and bond they will share forever.

Being around Brad meant there was always laughter. He loved talking junk with friends, sharing a good story, and bringing smiles to those around him. Brad will be remembered for his loving heart, carefree spirit, stubborn streak, and laughter he brought into the lives of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Gross, and her husband, Robbie; beloved grandson. Cody; his mother, Pat Bradsher; his brother, Jeff Bradsher, and Jeff’s wife, Dana, his niece, Kristin Bradsher; nephew, Brandon Pendergrass; and great niece, Kallie Pendergrass.

Brad was preceded in death by his wife, Marcy Bradsher and father, Duke Bradsher. A celebration of life will be held at Gentry Newell and Vaughan in the Chapel on August 22, 2026 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends and family at the home of Pat Bradsher following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Granville County Animal Shelter in his memory.
