Jerry Bowles Rigsbee, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on October 30, 2026, in Durham. He was born on March 18, 1945, in Durham, and spent his life as a hardworking man known for his effort to provide and move forward.

Jerry started working at a young age. He did not graduate from high school, but chose to begin working instead, and that decision shaped the course of his life. Over the years, he worked for Gregory Poole, a Cat dealer, as well as for Distribution Company and with Nello Teer Company for 14 years. His strong work ethic defined him, and he will be remembered as a man who worked hard throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Joseph Rigsbee; his mother, Marie Hudson Rigsbee; his brother, Calvin Rigsbee; and his sister, Violet Lumley.

Jerry is survived by his nieces Jan Markham, Lauren Markham, Megan Clayton, Kimberly Brown and husband, Scott; Jennifer Leather’s and husband, Lee; Krystal Webb and husband, Nick and extended family too numerous to name. May their memories of him bring comfort in the days ahead and keep his spirit close in the years to come.

A private burial will be held at South Granville Memorial Cemetery, Old 75 Highway, Stem, North Carolina 27581.
