Margaret “Peggy” R. Adcock, née Rudder, passed away on September 27, 2026, in Granville County, North Carolina, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 14, 1939, in Granville County, a place that remained closely tied to her life from beginning to end.

Peggy will be remembered as a kind and strong woman whose love for her family was at the center of who she was. She was a true matriarch, offering steady love, presence, and care to those around her. Her life was marked by both devotion and determination, and she leaves behind the lasting example of a woman who cherished the people she loved most.

She was a graduate of Berea High School, class of 1957, and went on to graduate from Louisburg College. In her working years, Peggy served in finance positions within Duke Hospital, John Umstead, and Central Regional. She brought dedication to her work and built a life grounded in responsibility and commitment.

Outside of work, Peggy found joy in traveling and especially loved to cruise. Among those happy adventures, her favorite cruise trip was to Alaska, a memory that remained especially dear. These experiences reflected her love of seeing the world and enjoying life’s special moments.

Peggy is survived by her son, Billy Ray Adcock, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Vanessa Adcock; her brother, Jimmy Rudder (Tannis); her grandchildren, Tiffany Jones (Houston), Jennifer Adcock, Meghan Adcock, Daniel Adcock (Kelsey), Jared Adcock (Aija), and Brooke Hawkins (Chandler); and her great-grandchildren, Clara and Ashlyn Jones, and Lydia and Raymond Adcock. She leaves them the blessing of her example, the comfort of her love, and many treasured memories that will continue to live on in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Brent Adcock; her husband of 57 years, Billy Ray Adcock, Sr.; her sister, Jeanette Morris; and her nephew, Keith Stark. Their memories remained part of her life, and her family now holds close the reunion of those gone before her.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Hester Baptist Church, 6581 State Highway 96, Oxford, North Carolina, in the Fellowship Hall. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hester Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Randy Bridges and Rev. Victor Blackwell. Burial to follow in the cemetery, where she will be placed next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
