Marshall Thomas Parham Jr., of Oxford, NC, passed away at home surrounded by family on June 4, 2026. He was the son of the late Marshall T. Parham Sr. and Helen Jean Bradsher Parham of Granville County, NC. He is also preceded in death by his late wife of 51 years, Beverly Currin Parham, with whom we know he is rejoicing in Heaven today.
He was a devoted husband to Beverly, a wonderful father to his girls, a proud grandfather, and a loving, nurturing brother. Marshall was a proud North Carolina State University graduate, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in education. He was a former dump truck driver for the state, an employee and supervisor at Bandag, and a school teacher at Vance Senior High School for 18 years. Upon retiring from teaching, Marshall fulfilled his lifelong dream of running a construction business. He worked alongside his late father-in-law, James W. “Bill” Currin, as owners and operators of Parham and Currin Construction Company running heavy equipment, clearing lots, digging septic systems, and digging footings. Marshall was also a longstanding member of Dexter Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, served as a youth leader, and served as a deacon.
Marshall had a bubbly spirit and knew no stranger. He was devoted to his family and shared the love of Christ with them. He was a diligent and hardworking man who believed if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right. Music was one of Marshall’s lifelong passions. He played in a band during his college years and continued playing guitar throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was serenading his beloved wife, Beverly, with songs that never failed to make her smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, watching sports, and relaxing with his furry friends through the years, Josh, Coco, Mac, and Buttons.
Marshall is survived by his children, Lori Nutt (Chris) and Nori Brooks (Brian) and his grandchildren, Caleb Nutt and Ali Wilson. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Satterwhite (Joe), Ruby Sue Parham, and Marie Hicks (Steve) and his brother, Ben Parham (Karen). He is also survived by his brother-in-law J.W. Currin (Mechelle), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will all miss him dearly.
A memorial service officiated by Rev. Wayne Clark will be held at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan on Tuesday, June 9 at 3:00pm, with a visitation prior to the service at 1:00pm. Family will also receive guests at the home of Brian and Nori Brooks. Flowers are greatly appreciated, and memorial donations to the Granville County Animal Shelter are also welcomed in honor of Marshall’s love for animals.
