Mary Edwards Taylor

Mary Edwards Taylor, age 84, died Wednesday evening at Duke Medical Center. Mary was born in Mars Hill, NC to the late Bryan W. and Adeline Gibbs Edwards. She was a member of Yates Baptist Church and was a very enthusiastic sports spectator for UNC football and basketball teams. Mary is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Alvin B. "Al" Taylor of Durham; her son, Roger E. Taylor of Athens, GA; her grandsons, Baxter C. Taylor and Maxwell G. Taylor; and nephew Michael J. Davis. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 31st, at Yates Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Don Gordon and Rev. John Frederick presiding. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM in the church sanctuary.
