Obituary

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we honor the beautiful life of Meghan Elizabeth Bunn, who passed away on June 24, 2026, in Oxford, NC, surrounded by family.

Meghan was born on January 12, 2002, in Durham, NC to Brian and Christy Bunn. From the very beginning, she possessed a quiet strength, a compassionate heart, and a beautiful smile that could brighten any room. She loved deeply, gave generously, and lived with remarkable courage.

At just ten years old, Meghan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Over the next fourteen years, she endured countless surgeries, treatments, hospital stays, and unimaginable challenges. Through every season, she demonstrated extraordinary resilience, grace, and unwavering faith that inspired everyone privileged to know her. Though cancer marked much of her journey, it never defined her. Meghan was so much more than her diagnosis, she was a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, student, and a faithful follower of Christ.

Meghan found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved spending time with her family, laughing with her sisters, reading, countless beach and Disney trips and pulling for her beloved NC State Wolfpack alongside her dad. She found her greatest joy in making treasured memories with her family and loved ones. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and quiet determination left a lasting imprint on everyone she met.

A 2020 graduate of Vance Charter School, Meghan fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending Meredith College, where she earned her degree in Childhood Development in 2024. Her journey reflected remarkable determination and perseverance, overcoming countless obstacles with grace and resilience. Meghan’s passion for children led her to Falls Lake Academy, where she joyfully served in the kindergarten classroom. She cherished every moment spent with her students, believing they enriched her life as much as she hoped to enrich theirs. Teaching was more than a profession to Meghan, it was a calling that brought her tremendous purpose and joy.

Above all, Meghan loved the Lord. Her life became a testimony of faith, perseverance, and hope. Even in suffering, she pointed others to Christ. While our hearts ache with an immeasurable loss, we rejoice knowing she is now completely healed, free from pain, and forever in the presence of her Savior.

Meghan is survived by her loving parents, Brian and Christy Bunn; her beloved sisters, Caelyn, Lila Grace and Lindley Marie; her maternal grandparent, Stanley Daniel, Jr.; aunt, Dana Mangum (Kyle); uncles Chip Bunn (Audry) and Ken Bunn (Erica), and many cousins and extended family members. Meghan is also survived by her most cherished best friend since kindergarten, Ashton Spraggins.

Meghan was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Deborah Tippett Daniel; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Goodwin Wright; and paternal grandfather, Billy Hugh Bunn.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, hospice team, church family, friends, and countless individuals whose prayers, compassion, and unwavering support carried them throughout Meghan’s journey.

Services to celebrate and honor Meghan’s life will be held on June 28, 2026, at Oxford Baptist Church, 147 Main Street, PO Box 398, Oxford, NC 27565, with Rev. Johnny Yount and Rev. Joe Don Cooper officiating. Loved ones are invited to gather for a visitation in the Fellowship Hall from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Meadowview Memorial Park, 6165 U.S. 15, Oxford, NC, with burial commencing at 5:15 pm.

Flowers are welcomed and appreciated or memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Children and Youth Ministries of Oxford Baptist Church, PO Box 398, Oxford, NC 27565, so that her legacy of hope and faith may continue to bless others.
