It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt respect that we announce the passing of Sandra Jones, née Bell. Born on August 25, 1940, in Ashland, Alabama, Sandra graced this world for over eighty-five years before peacefully departing on May 28, 2026, in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
Sandra’s life was characterized by kindness, diligence, and quiet strength. After completing her high school education, she built a meaningful career as an Accounting Supervisor with GTE, where her sharp intelligence and dedicated work ethic earned the admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Throughout her professional life, Sandra combined excellence with compassion, creating a lasting positive impact on those around her.
Beyond her career achievements, Sandra was cherished for her gentle nature and the unwavering values instilled in her by her parents, Leon Bell and Louise Jones Bell. She shared a devoted partnership with her husband, John Ray Jones, until his passing, exemplifying a life rich in love and mutual respect.
Sandra’s legacy lives on through her family, especially in her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jones, who continues to carry forward the strength and kindness Sandra inspired. Her son, Arthur Ray Jones, who passed away just two weeks earlier, now rests reunited with his parents.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor Sandra’s life at a graveside service at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, located at 3712 Cheek Road, Durham, North Carolina, 27704. The service will take place on June 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
As we remember Sandra Lee Jones, we celebrate not only her professional accomplishments and the loving relationships she nurtured but also the quiet moments of everyday kindness that defined her character. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love and gratitude of many.
