Steven Michael Soppa, 53 of Oxford, NC passed away on May 4. Born on May 15 in Washington, D.C. Steve was an avid fan of any Washington sport team especially the Washington Commanders. Steve also liked listening to world news and comedic podcasts. Steve was known for his humor, love of heavy metal music especially Korn and Metallica. His fur-babies Nina and Tinkerbell made his life whole.
Steve’s professional journey was distinguished by his commitment to public safety and technical expertise. He served with the Granville County Sheriff’s Department, where his work contributed significantly to the community's well-being. Following his tenure in law enforcement, Steve applied his skills as a Service Technician at Holland International, demonstrating versatility and professionalism across different fields.
His educational background includes graduating from high school and pursuing higher education, where he earned a partial degree in Forensics.
He is survived by his sister, Kathy Britt; brother-in-law, Billy Britt; and nephew Brandon Britt, who was like a brother to him. He also leaves behind his, lifelong best friend, Keith Sypolt; Janet and Gilbert Hilliard, his aunt and uncle; and his cousins, Melody Myrick, Chuck Prince and Terry Loyd.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, James Michael Soppa and Linda Ann Loyd King.
A celebration of Steven’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 2p-4p at Sanctum Coffee & Wine Bar located in Oxford, NC. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Area Congregations in Ministry of Granville County.
