Teresa J. Craig

January 13, 1955 — July 1, 2025

Creedmoor, NC

Teresa J. Craig, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of the community, was born on January 13, 1955, in Granville County, North Carolina. She peacefully departed this world on July 1, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina, leaving behind a legacy of love that will resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Teresa dedicated a significant part of her life to her role as a Business Manager for Duke Hospital Auxiliary. Her career was marked not only by her steadfast professionalism but also by her unwavering commitment to serving others. Her warm and radiant personality made it easy for her to make lifelong friends among her colleagues, who she maintained close friendships with even after retiring.

She was more than a figure in the professional realm; Teresa was a loving wife to William "Bill" Roy Craig, and a devoted mother to her daughter, Misty C. Woodward (Travis). As a stepmother, she embraced her role with grace, loving Brad Craig (Crystal), Tammy Choboy (Jon), and Anita Cook (Kenny) as if they were her own. Her family blossomed under her nurturing attention. Teresa's grandparenting role brought her unmatched joy; she took great pride in her grandchildren, Raegan Woodward, Madison Choboy-Newton (Matt), Landon Choboy, Laney Choboy, Hannah Cole (Gage), Mckenzie Stine (Adam), and Sydney Gilpin (Taylor). Each moment spent with them added light to her life and energy to her spirit, as she lovingly watched them grow. Even more, she celebrated the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Bently Proulx, Bryson Choboy-Newton, Baylor Choboy-Newton, Westin Cole, and Graham Stine, whom she adored deeply.

Teresa's heart was always open, adorned with kindness and warmth that touched everyone around her. Her personality was a blend of strength and gentleness—a loving, strong-willed, beautiful soul filled with compassion, faith and a love of God. Those fortunate to have known her were continually inspired by her faithfulness and resolve. She was a lifelong music lover and sang for many years in the choir a First Baptist Church of Butner until she was no longer able to due to illness.

Within her family circle, she leaves a bond unbreakable, strengthened by a suffusion of love, faith, and laughter. She is also survived by a host of special nieces and nephews, along with her loyal companion, Kash, who brought joy into her everyday life.

Teresa will be lovingly remembered by her family as they reflect on the cherished moments they shared. Yet, this loss is not without deep sorrow; she is preceded in death by her sister, Tammy Jackson Crute, her father, Leo Allen Jackson, and her mother, Mary Young Averett Jackson, each of whom holds a special place in the hearts of those she left behind, along with her uncle and aunt, McLendon and Mildred Averett Jackson.

In tribute to her life, family and friends will gather for a funeral service on July 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Butner, where they will celebrate the love and joy Teresa brought into their lives. The service will commence at 10:00 AM, with visitation to follow at 11:00 AM. Following visitation, she will be laid to rest at South Granville Memorial Cemetery in Stem, NC. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Hock Family Pavilion at 4023 N Roxboro St, Durham, NC 27704-2119 or to Samaritan’s Purse (link attached below).

While Teresa may have departed from this earth, her spirit will forever glow in the hearts of her loved ones and remain intricately woven throughout their memories. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were blessed to have been touched by her remarkable life.

The Craig family is being served with compassion by Gentry-Newell & Vaughan of 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. Online memorials may be made at www.gnvfuneralhome.com
